Planning Commission To Meet with School System About Rock Creek School
The Town of Walkersville’s Planning Commission will meet with representatives from Frederick County Public Schools, Burgess Chad Weddle, and Town Commissioners during its Workshop next Tuesday. January 9, 2018. The meeting will focus on the Board of Education’s recent decision to locate a new Rock Creek School in Walkersville. The plan adopted by the Board of Education moves the school from Waverly Drive in Frederick to the Walkersville Middle School campus on West Frederick Street in Walkersville.
Burgess Chad Weddle raised concerns about using Maryland Avenue in Old Town Walkersville to access the school site.
Many residents complained on this site, social media, and to the Board of Education about the lack of notice to the community. Many have voiced concerns about adding traffic to MD 26, MD 194, Biggs Ford Road, and U.S. 15.
The meeting on Tuesday will be held at Town Hall, and begins at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend, but the Planning Commission does not take public comment during Workshops.
