With the deadline for applying for the Frederick County Senior Tax Credit approaching on September 1, those who are eligible are encouraged to take advantage of the available savings. So far in Fiscal Year 2017, 1,855 homeowners received credits totaling $518,000. That compares to 2,222 homeowners receiving credits totaling $605,478 in Fiscal Year 2016. The amount of the Senior Tax Credit will be 20 percent of the net county real property taxes (up to zero) for qualifying homeowners.
