Executive Gardner Announces the Premiere of “County Perspective” – New Feature Program on FCG TV

Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner recently announced the launch of “County Perspective,” a new, magazine-feature program on FCG TV, channel 19, local county government television.

“I am delighted to launch this fresh, new program that will offer highlights of the many programs and activities of county government,” commented Executive Gardner. “With ‘County Perspective,’ we hope to engage citizens who we might not be reaching now, while offering long-time viewers a new way to learn about what’s happening in Frederick County.”

Studies show that video is the go-to medium for people to get information, and young adults especially rely on streaming videos online. Because of this shift in how people are watching video,
Frederick County’s Communications Department, which includes the Video Services team, continuously looks at ways to serve online streaming audiences as well as traditional cable television viewers. They have created “County Perspective” with short segments that are optimal for online viewing, and packaged them into a news magazine format. New segments will air every two weeks.

The county Video Services team is responsible for a broad range of productions, including live broadcasts of public briefings, various public meetings of the County Council and numerous boards and commissions, in-studio interview shows like “Community Conversations” and program video highlights in the community at parks, libraries and the animal shelter.

The team also creates top-notch public service announcements, spotlights county programs, and helps viewers understand the programs and processes of county government.
