Creative Ways to Get Rid Of Your Halloween Pumpkins

Carving pumpkins is a big part of the Halloween/fall season. Now that Halloween is over what do people do with all the pumpkins they have sitting on the front porch? Most people probably let them slowly rot and then throw them in the trash or a field somewhere. Are there more creative, fun, or even reusable ways to get rid of them? It’s time to find out.
One fun and creative way is to smash them. You can get a group of friends or family together and make a day of it. It is a great way to get rid of your pumpkin, and or some pent up aggression towards people.
Senior Bryan Johnson and his friends all spoke in unison, “Eat it, or throw it in the trash, or even better, smash it.”
If you are that person who likes to take things to the next level, then instead of smashing your pumpkin you could try chucking it or even shooting it out of a cannon. Pick whatever you find fun and does the job of getting rid of the pumpkin.
A reusable way is to make food out if it. Although after carving and leaving it outside for bugs to crawl/fly into it might not be as good, but that is your choice. On the other hand, if it has just been a centerpiece in your house than you could consider making some yummy treats from it. If you did carve your pumpkin and leave it outside consider giving it up to our furry friends. It will be a win win; you get rid of your pumpkin, and the animals get a nice treat at the same time.
“One time my family and I took all the extra stuff from our pumpkins and made a bunch of pumpkin recipes with them. We also ended up roasting the seeds,” said junior Susan Foster.
“If my family carves pumpkins we typically just throw them away, but this year we might just leave them in our yard and let it plant itself. My grandmother did it on accident one year, and the next year she had pumpkins,” said freshman Nevaeh Cooper-Camp.
There are so many ways to get rid of your pumpkin other than in a dumpster. The possibilities are endless. This year or next year try something different and get creative when getting rid of your pumpkin.
