Maryland Schools Closed; Distance Learning Continues

Maryland State Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Karen Salmon announced this afternoon that schools will be closed for the remainder of the year. Dr. Salmon also presented a recovery plan for school systems. School systems can use the plan to help get students back on track to meet educational goals. The plan offers choices for modified schedules, small group learning, and more once Maryland is able to progress to its second phase and beyond for re-opening.

FCPS Names Walkersville’s Jill McWilliams 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year

Walkersville Elementary School multi-grade kindergarten-first grade teacher Jill McWilliams was named the Frederick County Public Schools 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year this morning during Board of Education President Brad W. Young and Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban’s virtual “SurPRIZE Patrol” visit to an online school meeting.
