Health Department Announces COVID-19 Cases at Long-term Care Facility & Second Local Death

Frederick County - News Flash

The Frederick County Health Department (FCHD) announced today that six cases of COVID-19 have been reported at the Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center. Ten residents have been tested in total, six were positive and four were negative. Of the six cases, three are male and three are female, with ages ranging from 71-86 years. One of the residents with a positive test result has died. This deceased male resident was a man in his 80’s with underlying health conditions. Frederick County Health Department announced today the first official death of a Frederick County resident from COVID-19: a woman in her 90s with underlying medical conditions. “I am deeply saddened to announce this loss,” said Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, the Health Officer of the Frederick County Health Department. “We hope that the family will receive support from their friends and neighbors as they share the news of the passing of their family member.
