Effective 5 p.m. on Friday, December 11, capacity limits for indoor recreation establishments are revised as follows: Bingo halls, bowling alleys, pool halls, roller and ice skating rinks, social and fraternal clubs, and the indoor areas of any other establishments subject to the admission and amusement tax are limited to 50% capacity; If 50% capacity would allow more than 50 people, then the establishment’s capacity is lowered to 25%. The 25% cap also applies in areas where food and beverages are served within recreational establishments.

Walkersville Closes Town Hall Due to COVID Surge

The Town of Walkersville announced Thursday morning that its Town Hall will be closed to the public starting today Thursday, December 10, 2020. “With the rising number of COVID cases in the area, we would like to remain cautious,” the statement read. The Town asks that Water Bills payments be mailed or placed in the night deposit box outside the front door of Walkersville’s Town Hall.

County Executive Jan Gardner recently announced the Rural Historic Preservation Grant Program to support the rehabilitation and stabilization of rural historic properties. “The goal of this grant is to leave a legacy for future generations of a vibrant agricultural community and to preserve our rich history,” Executive Gardner said. The last curbside yard waste collection for the 2020 season will be Thursday, December 10, 2020. Be sure to place your yard waste curbside before 7:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. As a reminder, acceptable materials include: Grass clippings Leaves Branches no larger than 4ft long and 4 inches in diameter. Branches and limbs must be bundled.
