Lorene G. Simmons, 83, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Glade Valley Nursing & Rehab in Walkersville. Born on July 31, 1935, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Judge W. and Eva (Ivester) Grizzle. Lorene enjoyed country music, politics and Southern cooking. She is survived by daughters, Sheila L. Zavage and husband, Paul, of Walkersville and Cheryl A. Edmands and husband, Mike, of Brookeville, MD; a son, Charles E. Renovated McDonald’s Re-Opens

With little fanfare, the Walkersville McDonald’s re-opened this morning. The restaurant closed two weeks ago for renovations. With a flurry of activity on the site, the building got a face-lift inside and out.  The long vacated fenced playground no longer greets visitors and passers-by with the appearance of a ghost-town. Now, a modern McDonald’s with fresh pavement, paint, and landscaping invites patronage of Walkersville’s McDonald’s Restaurant.
