Woelfel Named Director of Emergency Communications Department

John Woelfel has been named director of the Frederick County Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) effective August 23, 2014. Mr. Woelfel takes over the position previously filled by Clarence “Chip” Jewell, who was recently appointed by the Frederick Board of County Commissioners as director of the new Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services Division. Mr. Woelfel has served as assistant director of Emergency Communications since January 2014 and prior to that was manager of quality assurance and the training coordinator for the department from 2005 to 2014. Bell Property Preliminary Plan

Tonight, the Walkersville Planning Commission will review preliminary plans for the development of the Bell Farm MD 194 and Fountain Rock Road.  The Planning Commission hearing will be held in the Walkersville Town Hall hearing room at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and provide input at Planning Commission meetings. The developer plans to construct 102 homes.  The property adjoins Walkersville Elementary School.  The development’s entrance will be a shared road with the elementary school and Walkersville High School.  There will be another entrance on Fountain Rock Road.

Problems with Produce Stands

Glade Valley residents enjoy a bucolic setting.  The farms of Glade Valley bring beauty and food.  Its common to find local farmers selling their produce to their neighbors.
