County Executive Gardner Advances Legislation to Support Family Farms

Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner today unveiled legislation to support multi-generational farming. The bill creates a more transparent process for farmers who want to follow the longstanding tradition of carving off housing lots on their property so family members can stay on the farm and support the farm operation. Current law allows children of farmers to apply for a waiver of an impact fee if they build on these lots. Frederick County Division of Parks and Recreation Outlines Plan to Reopen

Playgrounds maintained by Frederick County Parks and Recreation are now open for use. Parks and Recreation Director Jeremy Kortright today announced plans to gradually reopen other facilities and programming, which have been unavailable under Governor Hogan’s Executive Order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Frederick County Health Metrics Continue to Improve: County to Follow Governor’s Plan for June 12th

Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner today announced continued improvement in key health measures related to COVID-19.  The rate of people testing positive for COVID-19 has dropped to 6.5%, below the statewide average. Hospital statistics have significantly improved, with continued declines in overall hospitalizations, intensive care unit beds, and acute care bed counts. Universal testing results from nursing home staff and residents show low rates of infection, with no positive cases detected among residents and only three staff members positive at the three most recent facilities reporting results.
