Department of Aging Cancels “Groceries for Seniors” on Jan. 5 Due to Extremely Cold Temperatures
The “Groceries for Seniors” food distribution scheduled for Friday, Jan. 5, is canceled due to extremely cold weather conditions, the Frederick County Department of Aging announced today.
Seniors and those with disabilities are urged to stay indoors to avoid possible frostbite or the effects of hypothermia. County residents should check on elderly neighbors to make sure they are safe. “Groceries for Seniors” is a free monthly distribution of seasonal produce, protein and shelf-stable products for eligible residents. The next distribution is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, at the Frederick Senior Center, 1440 Taney Avenue, Frederick. “Groceries for Seniors” is a partnership of the Frederick County Department of Aging, Western Maryland Food Bank and Seed of Life, Inc.
