Frederick County Health Department announced today the first official death of a Frederick County resident from COVID-19: a woman in her 90s with underlying medical conditions. “I am deeply saddened to announce this loss,” said Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, the Health Officer of the Frederick County Health Department. “We hope that the family will receive support from their friends and neighbors as they share the news of the passing of their family member. Executive Gardner Extends Closures of County Buildings; Essential Services Will Continue

County Executive Jan Gardner announced today that Frederick County buildings remain closed to the public until further notice in response to state and local decisions to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. Senior centers, libraries, park buildings and nature centers remain closed. TransIT services are reduced and should only be used for essential needs, such as to reach jobs, grocery stores, or dialysis appointments.
