Movies are a way to inspire people and keep the arts going. The movie Dead Poets Society changed my life. Robin Williams’ character in that movie made me decide on my career path. Not only have movies affected me, but they’ve affected other people as well.

“Oh yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it.”-The Lion King

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it”- Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

“My momma always said, ‘Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.’”-Forrest Gump

“I know what I have to do now, I’ve got to keep breathing because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring?”-Cast Away

These are just a few movie quotes that have helped to inspire the world. From just needing a guilty pleasure or a pick-me-up movies have always been there when we’ve needed them. They are essential, and one of technologies greatest perks. Students at Walkersville High School have been inspired by a wide verity of movies.

Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story made me realize the power of believing in yourself and working for a goal. It was based off of Dr. Ben Carson’s autobiography, who grew up with a single mom in the ghetto, and he became a world leading neurosurgeon through faith and self determination.”-Claire Raimist.

“I would say the movie Up in the Air changed my life because of how deeply I took the message to heart. It simply taught me how hard life truly is and that in the end there are no happy endings.”- Brooks Gray

Cyber Bully because it made me think that the littlest things that you can say to someone like ‘shut up’ etc can hurt them so badly that they won’t want to leave their house. This changed my life to be nicer to people and help stop bullying.”- Cody Strange

The Fault in our Stars because a lot of people take their lives for granted and don’t know how lucky they are but that movie made me realize how hard some people actually have it.”- Amy Sennewald

“Hmm…I think Ghost changed my life in a positive way because I want to tell people how I feel before it’s too late.”- Megan McGee

Good Will Hunting. I watched that movie for the first time about a year ago and it really changed my perspective on things, especially success. You see, you can go be a revolutionary code-breaker for the CIA or you can go see about at girl. But what’s important is that you’re happy. It doesn’t matter if you’re a genius or not, as long as you define yourself as happy and you’re doing what you love, then that’s when you’re successful.”- Ashley Wilcom

Movies influence our lives without us even realizing it sometimes. They’ll put us in a funk or maybe we’ll think of that motivational speech from Tom Hanks in Cast Away. Regardless, they are very important to the arts and our society as a whole.
