Happy Independence Day
Its America’s Celebration! A day to celebrate the shaking of Great Britain’s shackles. What better way to celebrate than with a Ride-All-Night Special at the Walkersville Carnival?
The All-You-Can-Eat Buffet will feature fried flounder, ham and roast beef. The ride special will last from 6 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. A $300 Raffle will be held, and Full Effect will perform on stage.
The Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company will surely be hoping for two more big nights. Thursday evening was a bust due to the threat of storms. Fireworks were postponed and the carnival operated decided not to open the carnival rides and games.
The operator of the rides said he wouldn’t be able to afford to pay his employees and operate the rides. The weather and the lack of fireworks made the evening a bust.
A sparse crowd meandered through the carnival grounds enjoying food and music by Allen Brown, Debbie Williams and Friends.
A few politicians remained on the grounds by 8:00, but most folks had left the grounds. At 9:00, some folks who did not hear about the fireworks being postponed were making their way to the darkened carnival grounds and received the news.
