Three groups from Glade Valley tried their recipes and muscles at the Annual Ag Week at the Mall Ice Cream Making Contest. The event had been postponed twice due to the nasty weather this week. What was to have taken place Monday evening, finally happened on Thursday evening.  The turn-out was the contest’s largest ever.

Kaleidoscope 4-H Club, Walkersville 4-H Club and Walkersville FFA each had teams present for the contest. The teams had their recipes in hand, mixed their ingredients, and began hand-cranking ice cream in the Francis Scott Key Mall.

While none of their recipes placed in the top three, they all had lots of fun. Everyone got to taste all of the different ice creams made during the event.  Frederick FFA took the top prize with a chocolate peanut butter cookie dough ice cream.
