In fourth period on April 11th, eight senior students signed to Division 1 and Division 2 colleges.

The Shortt twins were both recognized at the event. “It is a really exciting day for me. I’ve been waiting to have my signing ceremony since last January and it is really nice to see my peers go to the next level,” commented senior Paige Shortt. Shortt will be attending the University of Tampa for lacrosse.

Senior Spencer Shortt said, “Ever since I verbally committed back in October, I have slowly began to realize more and more everyday of the fact that I have chosen my future college to better my education and play soccer. But I think today will give me the official feeling that I will be going to Millersville University.”

“Since I started playing lacrosse, my goal was to be able to play for a division two team, and I’ve finally reached it. I’m so excited that I get to share my accomplishment with other people,” said senior Felicity Borge who will be attending Barton College.

Senior Autumn Parson said, “I am very excited about my signing ceremony. I have been working towards competing at the next level for the last four years. I’ve gone through ups and downs, doubted myself and abilities, achieved far more than anything I ever thought possible of myself. I’m living my dream and I’m most grateful for that opportunity.”

“I’ll never forget who I was when I first started to run, and my love for track and field allows me to keep pushing myself past my own expectations. Signing is the cherry on top of my high school career and I feel relieved and excited to know what my future has in store. I can’t wait to see what I am able to achieve as a student athlete at the next level,” added Parson. She will be attending the Virginia Military Institute.

“The ceremony itself has a lot of importance to me. It’s a way of showing off the great achievement you have made due to your hard work. Personally, my cousin played division one football, and he is the reason that I wanted to play college football. I was crying over my real letter of intent realizing that I fulfilled by dream of being a division one football player,” commented senior Ethan Parish who will be attending Marist College.

“It’s a very exciting day! It’s going to be a fun time celebrating with my fellow classmates one last time on our accomplishments in high school,” said senior Christian Policelli who is going to attend the Naval Academy.

Senior Ben Detweiler who will attending Drexel for division one soccer said, “I’ve been looking forward to it and I think it’ll be a good opportunity.”

Lastly, senior Jacob Wetzel who will be attending Old Dominion added, “It feels great to be able to get into my favorite school and play the sport I love. I’m looking forward to carrying out my life in Norfolk and can’t wait to start the next episode of my life.”
