Boys Basketball Loses Close Game Against Linganore to Open Their Home Season

WHS Lions Pride Original Story:

The Walkersville varsity boys basketball team lost their first home game of the season on Friday night in a close match against the Linganore Lancers that had us all at the edge of our seats.  The final score of the game was 39-43, leaving the Lions with a four point loss.

Sophomore Malcolm Holman, a player on the JV team said, “I think the game last Friday was a very good game until the end. The varsity team didn’t play to the best of their ability in the first half, but they came back towards the end of the game but ended up losing.”

Senior Nathan Berry, a player on the varsity team said, “After losing a hard fought home opener I’m hoping we can bounce back and defend our home court.”

Senior Jeremiah Sweet said, “We started out slow on offense but on defense we played really well. We easily could have won the game but we had too many turnovers and we missed too many free throws.”

Even though they lost their first home game, the varsity basketball players still have hope as well as a positive outlook for the rest of the season.
