Blown Transformer Interupts Play-Off Watching
A blown transformer interrupted Baltimore Ravens fans’ Saturday evening plans in Walkersville. A transformer at the corner of West Frederick Street and Fulton Avenue exploded in the midst of the game. Potomac Edison quickly dispatched trucks to restore power to the area, but many were left to check scores on portable radios or smart phones.
The area blacked out was small, but temperatures well below freezing combined with a major sporting event left residents frustrated.
King’s New York Pizza busily prepared pizzas as a few residents watched the game in the restaurant. The staff said they were too busy baking, serving, and delivering food to keep up with the score.
While Baltimore held fourteen point leads twice in the game and never fell behind the New England Patriots until the last quarter of the game, they fell to the Patriots 31 – 35.
Residents who lost power got their power back to learn the local NFL team would go no further in the NFL Post Season.
