Animal Control Division Announces Minnie’s Pet Food Bank for Senior Pet Owners

Frederick County Division of Animal Control today announced Minnie’s Pet Food Bank for Senior Pet Owners.

Beginning this month, the shelter will set aside pet food bank hours dedicated to senior pet owners of Frederick County. Minnie’s Pet Food Bank will be available on the first Thursday of the month, from Noon until 4 p.m.

The shelter is located at 1832 Rosemont Avenue in Frederick, Maryland.

County residents 55 years and older are eligible to participate.

The food bank has a variety of dog and cat food. Shelter staff will be available to assist participants.

Director Linda Shea states, “We know the value of pets and understand the financial challenge that purchasing pet food can create for our seniors. For many people, pets are family. We hope that Minnie’s will help alleviate some of the burden of purchasing pet food.”

Minnie’s is named in memory of an English Bulldog that was the subject of an animal cruelty investigation.

For more information, call the shelter at 301-600-1546.
