Walkersville Library Groundbreaking Ceremony

Frederick County Public Libraries will break ground on the new Walkersville Public Library on Monday, March 13, 2017. The public ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. at 2 South Glade Road in Walkersville, Maryland. The site is directly across South Glade Road from Walkersville’s Creamery Park and between Polaris Drive and South Glade Road.

The new library has been in the planning stages for years. After being tabled by previous county government administrations, the current County Executive and County Council voted to move ahead on the project. the new library will replace the current local branch, built in 1987, which was found obsolete in 2010 at a mere 2,500 square feet consisting of one room for the public use.

The new branch will dwarf the current branch with six times more square footage, 15,000 square feet. With eighteen computer stations, two study rooms, a separate children’s area, and a meeting space, the new library will also provide many more amenities for the community.
