Thomas Patrick Brady, age 68, of Walkersville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in his home. Born September 27, 1949 in Cheverly, he was the son of the late Charles and Eileen Brady. He was the devoted husband of Mary “Mimi” Brady,, his wife of 44 years.
Tom was a gifted and caring math and science teacher, for 5th and 6th graders, at Stedwick Elementary School in the Montgomery County School system. For 34 1/2 years, Mr. “B” dedicated his career to making learning fun! He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, in Libertytown; Tom was an avid sports fan, especially of his Maryland Terps and the Washington Redskins. He loved everything Irish and was proud of his Irish heritage.
In addition to his wife, Tom was a proud father and grandfather of his three children and seven grandchildren. Survived by his children, Melissa Vukovich and husband Joe of Urbana, Christina Francis and husband Darrick of Walkersville and Matthew Brady and wife Maggie of Ijamsville. Grandchildren, Tyler and Kyle Vukovich, Ryan, Dominick, Claire and Eleah Francis and Allison Brady. Also survived by brothers, Tim Brady and wife Nola of Brookville, MD and Terry Brady and wife Kathy of Bethesda. Sisters, Mary Dague and husband Rich of Hershey, PA, Patty Patterson and husband Rodger of Wyndham, ME and Katie Stephens and husband Bill of Derwood, MD. Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Burt and Gladys Saylor of Delmar, MD, along with numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Saturday, March 10th from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A. memorial mass will begin at 11am with Father Charles Wible as the celebrant. Following the mass a fellowship meal will be held in Sullivan Hall, after which a private interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
Tom was a very generous giver and especially had a big heart for children and the poor. In lieu of flowers, it would please the family and honor Tom, if memorial contributions be considered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, the Frederick Rescue Mission, 419 W. South St., Frederick, MD 21701 or the St. Peter’s poor box.
