Walkersville to Discuss Monocacy Scenic River Management Plan

The Walkersville Planning Commission will hold a public information meeting on the Monocacy Scenic River Management Plan on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. The meeting will be the Planning Commission’s regularly scheduled Public Hearing. The meeting will be held at  7:30 p.m. Due to the large public interest and number of e-mails the Town of Walkersville has received, the meeting will be held  in the upstairs meeting room of Walkersville Town Hall. Parkside Development Presents Final Plans

On Tuesday, October 25, 2016, the Walkersville Planning Commission will review final plans from Verdant Development Group for their planned Parkside development on Biggs Ford Road. The former farm between Glade Creek and Kenneth Drive has been left fallow while the development plans were made. The barn, silo, and fencing were razed to leave only the old farm house, which the developer proposes will be updated and remain part of their new community. Sheetz Expansion Approved

The Walkersville Planning Commission granted approval to Sheetz’ site plan and site improvement plan last night. The approval came after the planning commission approve the formation of one lot from two owned by Nancy Sheetz, whose husband Steve Sheetz serves as Sheetz Family Council Chairman for the Altoona-based, family-owned convenience-store chain. Work was already underway to Tuesday to meet requirements for approval. An abandoned sewer line that once served a home on the former “Lot 2R” had to be removed before Frederick County and the Town of Walkersville approved any of the requests.…
