Rica Wilson Seeks Democratic Nomination for U.S. Senate

Dr. D. Rica Wilson has worked in the nonprofit sector and education arena for over 20 years. As a former public school teacher and university professor, she has held diverse roles at nonprofit organizations and colleges focused on improving the lives of hardworking families, disabled people, and economically disadvantaged communities.

She is the Executive Director and Founder of Brown Girl Wellness, a 501c3 non-profit organization that helps homeless and disadvantaged women and children in rural communities thrive. As an advocate for human rights and social justice, she continually uses her educational training and life experience to mobilize community-based programs for empowerment.

Wilson graduated from St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She has a Master’s Degree in English, with an emphasis in teaching English as a Second Language, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She holds a doctorate in ministry with a focus on Pastoral Counseling and a certificate in Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

The mom of three boys, is looking forward to providing a fresh perspective and diverse voice to represent Marylanders in the United States Senate. As an advocate for justice and equality, she is passionate about justice and educational reform. She will fight for Medicare for all, higher minimum wages, environmental justice and other issues that impact Maryland families. Dr. Wilson will not ignore poverty, food insecurity, disabled rights, gun laws nor violence in our schools. She will stand for voiceless citizens and demand change to improve lives of all citizens. She enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. The South Carolina native is a licensed African-Methodist Episcopal minister and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
