Ray King

Mr. Ray William King, 79, of Walkersville died Friday, December 28, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late, Norma Jean King, who predeceased him on March 28, 2010.

Born April 25, 1939 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late William Earl King and Elsie Grace (Benchoff) King.

Ray was a veteran of the US Navy, having served from 1958 – 1962. Following his Honorable Discharge, he worked for the A&P Supermarket in Glen Burnie until 1963. From 1964 until his retirement in 1992, he was a communications technician with AT&T in Monrovia.

A longtime resident of Walkersville, he was a member of the Walkersville Fire Company, and the Walkersville Bowling Alley Coffee Club. He was a member of the Woodsboro American Legion.

Ray is survived by his son, Thomas R. King, and wife, Deborah, of Walkersville; daughter, Jill Creager and husband, David, of Palm Bay, Florida; grandchildren, Gavin Key, and Keith and Bryan Creager; and special family members, Paul and Florence Royer.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 3 from the funeral home with Rev. Tim May officiating.

Interment will follow in Glade Cemetery.
