Prom 2018, Midnight Masquerade, Slated for This Friday, May 4th

WHS Lions Pride Original Story:

Mills Custom Wood Floors

Everyone knows that as the Spring season approaches, so does prom. The upperclassmen at Walkersville High School are super excited for Prom 2018. The prom will be held at Walkers Overlook on May 4th, from 8-11 pm. Tickets are being sold during all lunch shifts until May 2nd for $35 a piece.

This year’s prom theme is “Midnight Masquerade.” The prom committee (made up of members of the Junior Class Club, run by business teacher Gina Stelma) is responsible for decorating the prom venue and executing the theme. There are posters all over the school, informing students of important information. There will also be masks at the actual dance,  which will be handed out to each student if they would like.

Along with prom comes spirit week. The spirit week themes for 2018 are as follows:

Monday – Athlete vs. Mathlete (students who are more athletic should dress as a “mathlete,” and vice versa.)
Tuesday – Twin Day (students can pair up to wear matching outfits)

Wednesday – Junior/Senior Day (Juniors should dress like babies/children, while seniors dress like older people!)

Thursday- Tacky Tourist Day (Be as tacky as possible!)

Friday – Comfy Day (To kick back and relax before prom that evening.)

The prom court this year includes eight nominees. The prom queen nominees are Mathena Frederick, Julia O’Connell, McKenzie Nugent, and Elisabeth Madsen. The prom king nominees are Spencer Shortt, Will Anderson, Billy Gant, and Nathan Raynor.

Business teacher and prom organizer Gina Stelma said “This year’s theme is Midnight Masquerade and students will get a mask to wear when checking in. Prom is at Walkers Overlook on May 4 from 8-11.  Unique Dreams is our DJ. Students will park at the high school and be shuttled by a limo bus to the event. We’ve been busy finalizing the plans these past few weeks and it has been hectic.  But in the end, it’s well worth it to see all of the students dressed up and looking fly!”
