A Starry Night, Proms 2017 theme, was not really supposed to be one according to every weather channel on TV May 5th, 2017. As Walkersville High school students left school at 11:00am directly following flex, it looked as if the whole night would be ruined because of the rain and dreary sky.

Mother nature didn’t let that happen though. After a couple hours of heavy rain, the skies cleared up just in time for students to get group pictures taken with their friends before they headed off to dinner.

Senior Madison Sorrell said, “I had the most amazing time at prom. The music wasn’t bad, and I loved slow dancing with my boyfriend. It was the best part about the night, and I am sad it was my last prom, but it was definitely a night to remember!”

We appreciate all of the time and effort that was put in by our students, staff members, and volunteers who planned this amazing night. It was so much fun to enjoy music, dancing, and fun times with our friends before we get ready for graduation in a couple of weeks.

Senior Kelcie Robertson said, “Prom was a lot of fun! I think the best part was just being able to see all my friends and hang out with them. I am upset it was my last prom, but it is a bittersweet moment because prom is always fun and getting dressed up and going out with my friends is something I’ll never forget. Its one of the things I’m going to miss about high school.”

Principal Tracey Franklin added,“We are fortunate to have such wonderful business partners and volunteers in our community. Well done Lions! You all looked amazing at prom and you made us proud!”

Walkersville High School seniors will be enjoying their last few moments as high school students and walking across the stage with only their diplomas in their hand and the memories they have made these past four years. Now that we have enjoyed our last prom together let’s enjoy these next couple of weeks before we will be saying goodbye to all of our childhood friends and community because it will go by fast!
