Indoor Track Team Prepares for Championship Season With One Last Meet

WHS Lions Pride Original Story:

The Walkersville High track team competed at a track meet on Friday January 5, 2018. This was is the last meet before championship season begins. A majority of the team was excited about the meet, while others were nervous.

“ The meet went terrible because now we have no 4by200 or 4by400 team and I’m stressing and I want these two girls to run, but it’s hard to convincing them. I’m going to cry and I did terrible cause I’m stressing” Sophomore Kasi Owkulu said. “It was a big meet so races were a little harder for people. I PR’d in my hurdle race so that was good and there’s still time to improve for everyone before championship season” Junior Mara Leucic says.

“ I think the meet was okay. Personally I gained a few seconds but we’ve been on break and I’ve been sick so I’m not too worried. Overall I think our team did a god job at the meet” Junior Natalie Miller says after her race. “ The meet wasn’t our best we have done better but we will only get better” Sophomore Tineke Younger days. “ I think the meet was pretty good considering the little time we had to practice this week. I improved my time from the last meet which always makes me happy. My 4by800 team did very well. We improved our times as a team which is all I can ask fro. So overall I am happy with the entire performance of the team” Junior Johnny Bowersox says.

Although the team didn’t feel confident going into this meet, they still gave it their all and left everything on the track. As championship season draws closer and closer, we wish the track team all the best and can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Walkersville track team.
