Community Foundation FY2019 Strategic Grants

During its recent FY2019 strategic grantsmaking cycle, The Community Foundation of Frederick County provided $302,558.92 to 13 area nonprofits dedicated to improving lives and enhancing Frederick County. These grants focus on the Community Foundation’s strategic grant areas supporting children and youth, health care, and basic human needs.

Strategic grant funding supporting school readiness for children and youth was provided to:

  • Blessings in a Backpack: $12,000 for weekend backpacks of supplemental nutrition for pre-K children attending Lincoln, Monocacy, and Waverley Elementary Schools.
  • Family Partnership of Frederick County: $30,785 for Bright Futures 2019 program.
  • The Housing Authority of the City of Frederick: $21,600 for Early Learning: Building Successful Students program.
  • Improving Education: $1,000 for Bedtime in a Box for Frederick County for Brunswick area pre-K and kindergarten students.
  • Mental Health Association of Frederick County: $21,200 for Healthy Families Frederick program.

Strategic grant funding supporting health needs was provided to:

  • Frederick Community Action Agency: $15,000 for primary health care services for low income residents and $15,000 for school-based health care.
  • FMH Home Health: $44,571 for Chronic Care Management Program.
  • Mission of Mercy: $25,000 for dental care and $15,000 for patient partnership referrals from Frederick Regional Health System.
  • The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs: $12,000 for prescription assistance program.
  • Seton Center: $8,993.12 for DePaul Dental Program direct services.

Strategic grant funding supporting basic human needs was provided to:

  • Advocates for Homeless Families: $12,409.80 for partial case manager salaries, $4,500 for emergency financial assistance, and $5,000 for transportation and childcare assistance for program participants.
  • Frederick Rescue Mission: $15,000 for Changed Life Recovery program case manager salaries and $15,000 for Faith House case manager salary.
  • Heartly House: $3,500 for rental assistance.
  • The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs: $25,000 for housing stabilization services.
