Car into Post Office

On Monday March 5, 2018 at approximately 12:15 p.m., Walkersville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies were dispatched to an auto accident on West Frederick Street with victims trapped.

A Maryland State Police Trooper arrived on the scene first, and reported a vehicle had driven into the Walkersville post office. All occupants were reported to be out of the vehicle.

Deputy Chief Chad Barrick arrived on the scene along with Ambulance 248, and established command. The crew from Ambulance 248 ultimately transported the driver to Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Crews from Engine 111 and Rescue Squad 24 removed the vehicle from the building, and cleaned up the scene.

A county Building Inspector was called to the scene, and declared the structure safe.

Units returned to service after approximately 40 minutes.
